Aoba Ishida,

Certificate II in Spoken and Written English

On my first day of class, I was really afraid because I thought my English level was not good. However, as days passed, studying at Stanley College became fun. My teachers and friends made the school a happy place. If I did not understand something, they would teach me. While living in Perth, I had to speak English everyday which helped in improving my language skill. I also enjoyed making many new friends from different countries, which I had the opportunity to learn about their cultures and lifestyles.

Fay was very helpful in finding an aged care facility that was near my house for my work-based training. Upon completion of my training, I was offered a casual position! Fay guided and supported me with all my requirements. Both Fay and my trainer developed my confidence. I would like to thank the staff at Stanley College, especially Fay and my trainer for helping me to get a job in Perth.

Coming from a country that is culturally different, I really enjoyed the straightforward structure and content of the lessons. My instructors are very positive, not only because of their professionalism, but also because of their ability to quickly establish a relationship with their students.

Georgia Bennetts, Australia,

Certificate III In Individual Support (Ageing) and Certificate II in Spoken and Written English

I started the Aged Care course only knowing a small amount. I had a wonderful trainer and the course was extremely informative, giving me the knowledge to understand the rights of family and clients. Correct care is so important and necessary for the quality of life and dignity of the aged person. When I commenced my work based training, I was able to confidently put into practice everything I learned in class.

There were no surprises in the workplace because I was implementing exactly what I learnt in class. Workplace training was very beneficial in allowing a person to know if they have what it takes to continue in the path of being an aged carer.

Between what I was learning in class and my hands on workplace experience, I am confident in perusing aged care as a career.

Duc Thuan Luu, Vietnam,

I am glad that I learnt first aid in my Certificate III in Aged Care course. On the very same day I underwent first aid training, I had the opportunity to perform CPR on an older gentleman. When the paramedics arrived, they were surprised when I told them I had learnt CPR only that day. Thank you Stanley College for providing me with the necessary skills and knowledge!
