Conditions of a Student Visa

There are a number of ‘conditions’ on your student visa, a full list of these conditions is available via the Department of Home Affairs website.

Visa not granted in-time

Please inform Stanley College (e: studentservices@stanleycollege.edu.au) if you application for a Student Visa is not granted in-time for you to commence your studies.

Visa expiring, but the course is incomplete

You may need to renew your student visa. Stanley College staff are not able to provide advice or information about extending or changing your visa. Please contact the Department of Home Affairs, or your Education Agent or Migration Agent.

Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is an official document that is issued by Stanley College and used by the Australian Government. It records all details regarding your course enrolment, including the course name, course start / end dates and course fees.

Maintain active Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)*

Stanley College is required to update the status of your CoE, or report / notify the Department of Home Affairs, if you:

  • Fail to commence your studies by the commencement date
  • Commence studies, but then subsequently inform Stanley College of your decision to cease your enrolment, prior to completion of your studies.
  • Defer your studies
  • Fail to re-enrol and return to your course after semester break
  • Completed your studies and graduated from your course earlier than indicated on your CoE
  • Change your study plans, which may affect your course duration
  • Are reported by Stanley College due to :
    • Non-payment of fees*Unsatisfactory academic progress*
    • Academic or general misconduct*

Change of Visa Status

As an international student, it is your responsibility to notify Stanley College of any changes made to your visa status as soon as possible. This is to ensure we have the most up-to-date records.

Your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) may be cancelled if you no longer hold a student visa.

Updating contact Details

It is a condition of your student visa to ensure you keep Stanley College updated with your Contact Details, including address, telephone number and email. You can update this information anytime in your Student Portal.

Studying at Stanley College

Support for International Students

Australia is globally recognised for its high-quality education system, and international students play a vital role in diverse and dynamic learning environment. To protect student rights and uphold education standards, the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 establishes a legal framework that ensures quality education and safeguards student welfare.

As a registered education provider, Stanley College is legally required to comply with the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code 2018). This Code sets out the nationally consistent standards listed here, that ensure international students receive accurate information, appropriate support services, and fair treatment throughout their studies:

  • Marketing Information and Practices – Ensuring that the marketing of all its courses are accurate and not misleading.
  • Recruitment of Overseas Students – Providers must recruit responsibly by ensuring students are appropriately qualified and well informed for the course for which they seek enrolment.
  • Written Agreement (Offer Letter) – Providing clear written agreements detailing tuition fees, refund policies, and course expectations.
  • Education Agents – Requiring education agents to act ethically, honestly and in students' best interests.
  • Younger Overseas Students –Ensuring that students under 18 meet legislative or other regulatory requirements relating to child welfare and protection, have been provided with sufficient emergency contact information and suitable welfare arrangements have been made (where applicable).
  • Student Support Services – Offering orientation, academic assistance, and wellbeing support.
  • Student Transfers – Regulating the conditions under which students can transfer between providers.
  • Visa Requirements – Monitoring attendance and course progress ensuring compliance with enrolment and visa conditions outlined in students' visa.
  • Deferrals, Suspensions, and Cancellations – Outlining when and how enrolments may be deferred, suspended, or cancelled.
  • Complaints and Appeals – Ensuring students have access to fair and transparent complaints processes.
  • Additional Registration Requirements – Ensuring providers meet strict operational and quality standards.
