Winnie was born in Hong Kong and educated in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Melbourne and Perth. She is a
qualified lawyer, Certified Practising Accountant, Mineral Economist, a wife and mum.
Winnie has worked in the energy and resources, finance, logistics, and manufacturing industries. She
has expertise in change management, corporate governance and business process improvement and
has been involved in company listings on the Australian Securities Exchange, including companies
involved in iron ore (both magnetite and direct shipping ore). She has been involved with both inbound
and outbound Chinese investments. Her past roles include implementing Coca-Cola bottling
strategies into greater China and administering the first Chinese direct investment in an iron ore mine
in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia.
Winnie has worked for Swire Pacific Ltd, P&O Ports Limited, Paladin Resources Limited, Kerry Group
Limited, Rio Tinto Iron Ore and a Perth-based subsidiary of an Asian listed entity focused on iron ore,
resources and construction.
Winnie is a Non-Executive Director (NEDs) for ASX Listed, unlisted and Not-for-profit Boards.
She is a qualified professional interpreter for Mandarin and Cantonese, holding accreditation by the
Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the National Accreditation Authority of Translators and
Interpreters (NAATI).
She is a graduate member of the Corporate Governance Institute, the Australian Institute of Company
Directors (GAICD), The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, CPA and AusIMM
(Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy).
She travels to South East Asia regularly and is often invited as a guest speaker in Australia on
emerging trends in China, the art of negotiation with the Chinese and topics like "Chinese are not all
the same". She has done many workshops and keynote speeches for trends in China. She is highly
sought after as a speaker on doing business and attracting investments from China and a specialist
negotiator in cross-border transactions.
Winnie is the principal and founding Director of Winn Consulting Pty Ltd and a boutique legal practice,
Winch Legal Pty Ltd. Winnie has been the President of the Hong Kong Australia Business Association,
WA Chapter since 2019.
Winnie came to Australia as an overseas student in the late eighties and returned to Hong Kong to
work after achieving her first two combined degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce
from the University of Melbourne. Winnie appreciates the continuing Australian education she
received and is most excited about joining Stanley College as a board member and the appointment
as the Chair of the Audit and Rick Committee (ARC).
