WHY WORK-BASED TRAINING MATTERS

For students
Our student placements turn learning into practical experience by connecting what is taught in class with real-world workplace practices. They help students develop practical skills, build confidence, and gain experience that supports their transition into professional environments.
By engaging directly with industry, students gain insight into workplace culture, grow professionally, and discover career paths that align with their interests and strengths.

For Employers
Hosting student placements offers businesses the chance to engage with motivated students who bring fresh perspectives and up-to-date skills. These experiences allow employers to identify emerging talent while contributing to the development of a capable future workforce.
Placements also encourage knowledge exchange and staff growth, as supervisors strengthen their leadership and mentoring skills. By working with training providers, employers help ensure that education remains aligned with real industry needs.
HOW IT WORKS
Host Employer Approval
Faculty Managers approve all WBT Host Employers before placements begin. Each site must meet Stanley College’s requirements for safety, suitability, and training relevance. Once approved, host status is valid for 12 months and reviewed as needed to maintain quality.
Establish Clear Agreements
The host organisation, the student, and Stanley College sign a work-based training agreement, defining supervision, learning tasks, and monitoring responsibilities for a structured placement.
Learn and Train Under Supervision
Students complete hands-on tasks under qualified workplace supervisors, while Stanley College trainers conduct regular site visits to ensure progress, safety, and alignment with course outcomes.
Review Progress and Recognise Growth
We gather feedback from both students and employers after each placement. This input helps strengthen the quality and relevance of future WBT experiences.
